Assignment #1: Zentangle Reflection: I used line, shape, and value to make this zentangle. I still used overlapping shapes like in the original zentangle, but I used triangles instead. I also liked the rings being around an entire area of the zentangle, so I recreated that on the new zentangle with a different sublayer. I also added different value to different parts of the zentangle, for example, the triangles and the inner spiral as well as the borders of the sections are darker. Overall, I enjoyed this activity as it was relaxing, and I felt that I was able to really be creative while doing it.
Solo Acrostic Poem: Assignment #5:
Little Sally fears that cabbages slap villagers. Line, Shape, Form, Texture, Color, Space, Value
Project #1: Modified Gyotaku Print Reflection: This project was very interesting to me, and I feel that my flounder came out pretty well. I used a cool color scheme of blues, greens, and violets because those seem to be my favorite colors. They make me feel tranquil, calm, and relaxed, and the color blue reminds me of my childhood and my old friends.
To make this fish, I first mixed the colors that I wanted and painted them on the fish model. Then, I took the rice paper and laid it on the model and pressed down on the paper to create a rubbing. Then, I let it dry, and I used a color pencil the next day to modify the rubbing and give it more color. After that, I lathered the back of the rubbing with rice paste, working from the center out, and glued it to a firmer white paper. I then glued the edges of the firm white paper to a large board, and after all the glue set, I cut it out and completed the rubbing. As I worked on the project and as I added the colors during the color pencil phase, my feelings about the project changed as I began to see the fish come to life. I feel that I came out with a very successful Gyotaku from this project.
I am a very self directed learner, as I learned much of that from last year. I always clean up my workplace and try my hardest to do the best work I can by using my own knowledge of art and the principles of design. Sometimes I need help and go to tutorials (although I have not done that yet) in order to get that help. All in all, I believe that I have made long strides in becoming a self-directed learner.

Color Wheel: The color wheel is the arrangement of colors that organizes them into logical orders. Primary colors are colors that do not result from mixing other colors. The primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. The secondary colors, green, purple, and orange, are colors that directly result from mixing two primary colors. Cool colors are colors that are bluish, greenish, or purplish, while warm colors are reddish, orangish, and yellowish. Complementary colors are colors that look good beside each other and are on opposite sides of the color wheel, like purple and yellow, blue and orange, and red and green. Analogous colors are colors that are directly beside each other on the color wheel, like blue and purple. Intermediate colors are colors that are created from mixing analogous colors. These colors include red-orange and blue-green, A triad refers to three colors that are categorized in some way by the color wheel. Two triads are the primary and secondary colors.
ECU Art Trip: I learned a lot of new and interesting things about art in college from this experience. I enjoyed touring the campus and seeing what the art program in ECU was. Some highlights were the sculpting tour, the photography dark room, and the laser cutter. I do not consider myself as someone who has a talent for art, and thus would not consider a higher education in it, but I can not deny that I do enjoy creating art no matter how good it turns out. Still, I think that ECU has a good art program, although I don't have any other college that I know of to compare it to.
